Richmond Marina Bay: A Waterfront Neighborhood Guide

The Bay Trail connects this part of Richmond's waterfront to a wider regional network, with a waterfront walk toward Marina Bay Park. The marina and shoreline give that walk its setting; it can be an outing on its own, not just the route to another destination.

Richmond's trail resources provide maps for Marina Bay and other shoreline segments. Use those maps and current notices for today's access conditions. My childhood bike rides are personal memories, not present-day cycling directions.

The Rosie the Riveter Memorial sits outdoors in Marina Bay Park. It honors women's work during World War II and places that history along the same waterfront people visit for recreation.

Taking time with the memorial adds context to the marina setting. Richmond's wartime home-front story is part of the landscape, not something confined to an indoor exhibit.

For a deeper introduction, the National Park Service's Visitor Education Center is a separate nearby destination at 1414 Harbour Way South in the historic Ford Assembly Plant complex. It is not the memorial's location. Check the park's current visitor information when planning to combine the two.

On Esplanade Drive, two restaurants offer concrete reasons to pair the shoreline with a meal.

Anh Restaurant & Bar, at 1950 Esplanade Drive, serves Vietnamese dishes at its Marina Bay location. Lara's Fine Dining, at 1900 Esplanade Drive, offers a menu that includes pasta, seafood and other entrées.

Both give a shoreline visit a place to continue over a meal. Check the restaurants' own menus, reservations and hours before going.

The Marina Bay Farmers Market runs on Sundays, 10 a.m.–2 p.m., in Marina Bay Park's parking lot off Regatta Boulevard and Melville Square. Its listings include vegetables, fruit, eggs, mushrooms and handmade goods; the selection can change with the season and participating vendors.

The City announced the market's launch in April 2024, a concrete example of how the area's activities have grown. With the park and shoreline nearby, browsing the stalls offers a different way to spend time by the marina.

Armistice Brewing Company, at 845 Marina Bay Parkway, Suite 1, adds a brewery stop along the parkway rather than directly beside the marina's Esplanade Drive restaurants. Alongside its Richmond events calendar, Point Richmond Gamers lists Thursday board-game nights at Armistice, with games available to learn. Confirm the next gathering with the organizer; a recurring listing is not a guarantee that every date will go ahead.

East Brother Beer Co., at 1001 Canal Boulevard, is a separate nearby Richmond outing, not a marina-front taproom. It has indoor and outdoor seating, brewing on site and rotating food trucks. Its Richmond programming has included live music at events such as the 2026 Summer Classic car show. The Richmond events calendar is the place to look for upcoming dates and food-truck details—not every visit will coincide with a performance.

Shimada Friendship Park, at Peninsula Drive and Marina Bay Parkway, provides another public place along the water. Its name has a specific story: the National Park Service's audio introduction explains that it commemorates Richmond's sister-city relationship with Shimada, Japan, established in 1961.

That connection adds a different piece of history from the wartime memorial. Both are part of getting to know the waterfront, without treating every park as the same photo opportunity.

The Richmond Ferry Terminal is at 1453 Harbour Way South, near the Ford complex rather than at the marina's restaurant addresses. San Francisco Bay Ferry operates the Richmond–Downtown San Francisco route.

That creates an option for a trip across the Bay, whether it is part of a day out or a regular travel pattern. The current timetable and the trip to and from the terminal matter; this guide does not promise a door-to-door commute time.

Marina Bay, the Ford complex and the ferry are connected parts of a waterfront visit. Point Richmond belongs in a separate neighborhood guide, even though trips there are part of my own memories.
